Things change. But content is always king.

Things change. But content is always king.

I get so many clients asking me about SEO. “How can I be number 1 in Google for my keywords?” – well, the truth is, there really shouldn’t be a ‘method’ to this. Google are trying to make everything as natural as possible, and whilst other companies and I can help you to improve your rankings, you have to get it right from the outset.

That means great content. Content has been king since before websites even came around. And content will be king long after computers evolve, and robots take over, and all of that stuff…

Content is always the first thing you need to focus on when it comes to having a great website. Never neglect it.

Now, if content is king, then structure is queen. You need to ensure that your visitors can get from A to B and then immediately to Q on your website whenever they want, with a sensible site structure. It’s no good having hundreds of pages of content that nobody can access, because internal linking plays a big part in your SEO makeup.

The best advice I can give to anyone who is starting a business and is in need of a website is this:

1. Start with an excel spreadsheet and work out your rough site structure
2. Write the content for those pages (or employ a copywriter to do it for you)
3. Always keep the user in mind – does this make sense to your customers?
4. Let the designer actually design around that content

It’s a very simple process if you want it to be. But if you try to buy an off-the-shelf theme and then chuck in your content around that, it usually ends up in a dis-jointed site.

Start with content. Content really is the king.

Let's work together on your project.
